Ross Larnell Patterson was born on July 14, 1956, in Dallas, Texas, to Doris Elaine Patterson and Floyd Lee Patterson, Sr. Ross accepted Christ at an early age, guided by the love and care of his mother Doris at Bexar Street Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor C. C. Robertson. Ross received his formal education from the Dallas Independent School District and graduated from Roosevelt High School class of 1974. In 1976, Ross enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving his country with honor, pride, and dignity. While serving his country, Ross was titled Fire Protection Specialist with the Fire Fighter and Crash Division. Upon honorable discharge, Ross explored many career opportunities with IBM, Austin Diagnostic Hospital, and finally, giving years of employment to Blackmon-Mooring Steamatic Carpet and Air Duck Cleaning Services. Ross had a unique way with words. His heart was as big as Texas, but would always tell you how he felt with no apologies. Ross was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan through and through and represented his team win, lose or draw. Ross married the love of his life, Ms. Evelyn Butler, on August 14, 1993. Together they shared a life of love, honor, commitment, respect, and loyalty. They combined their families and additionally expanded their family by adopting 5 beautiful girls, known as the Patterson girls. In 1996, Ross accepted God’s call and preached his 1st sermon at the Berean Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Willie Jean Martin. Ross participated and was affiliated with a few different ministries before making Emmanuel Bible Church his own under the leadership of Pastor Eric D. Jones Sr, where he served as a deacon. On June 28th at 7:04 am, Ross answered the Savior's call. The vows until death do us part became a true testimony of Love and Faith as he held the hand of his beautiful wife. Ross transitioned to a home of no more pain, no more sickness. He bid farewell to his earthly home and entered his heavenly home. II Corinthians 5:8 – “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” Ross is preceded in death by his parent, Floyd Lee Patterson, Sr. and Doris Elaine Patterson; Grandmother, Gladys Peters; brothers, Fredric Patterson, Floyd Lee Patterson, Jr.; Sisters, Gladys Patterson-Jefferson, and Janice Patterson Schanklin.
