Prayer Warrior! “Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; that it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.” Ephesians 6:1–3 Evangelist/Missionary Geraldine Elaine Green was born on July 12, 1946, in Garden City, Louisiana, to Charlie Green and Mable Simpson. She was blessed to be raised in a large and loving family with eleven siblings and a host of cousins whom she cherished deeply. From an early age, Geraldine demonstrated a sincere reverence for God and a growing curiosity about the ways of Christ, revealing the calling that would guide her life. “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace.” 1 Peter 4:10 Geraldine graduated from Franklin High School in 1964. Following graduation, she relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, where she attended Clark County College and studied Human Services and gained experience in nursing. Later, while living in Austin, Texas, she attended Austin Community College with an emphasis in social work. Serving others was not simply her profession—it was her ministry and her joy. “Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” Proverbs 31:28 “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15 She was a devoted wife and mother. While in Las Vegas, she united in marriage with Elder Willie R. Dorsey, and from that union were born two children, Duane and Zanell. She later married Lester Green Sr., and in 1982 they moved to Austin, Texas, where they welcomed two more children, Lester and Quana. She willingly sacrificed an earthly career to devote herself fully to her family and ministry. Though she carried many titles, her most cherished title came in 2012 when she became “Grandmother.” “And He gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.” Ephesians 4:11–12 Geraldine was raised in the Church of God in Christ and accepted Christ and her calling at an early age. In Las Vegas, she served faithfully at Powerhouse COGIC under Superintendent J. W. Logan and at House of Holiness under Bishop Melvin Sanders Sr. During this time, she grew spiritually and shared her gift of singing and praise. Upon relocating to Austin, Texas, her fervor for God only deepened. She served faithfully at Mim’s Chapel COGIC, Open Door COGIC, #1 COGIC, and Tabernacle of Praise COGIC. At Burns Memorial COGIC, she became affectionately known as Mother Green, serving with humility and faithfulness until she could no longer attend physically. Always seeking to go higher in God, she reached significant milestones in her spiritual journey, including becoming a licensed Missionary and Evangelist under the Texas Southeast Jurisdiction and earning her Bachelor of Theology in Religious Education in August 2011. Founding and leading an online ministry that had members from across the country and including Canada. “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before His presence with singing.” Psalms 100:1–2 “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” Proverbs 4:7 Among her many gifts, Geraldine’s greatest joy was found in singing songs of praise and teaching the Word of God. She served as a Sunday School teacher, Bible study leader, and ministered the Word on numerous occasions. She challenged others to dig deeper into Scripture, strengthening their relationship with God. She was a voice of distinction in both song and ministry—a powerful and phenomenal woman of God. Never wavering in her faith and always trusting and believing in God, she was a source of strength, a voice of wisdom, and a faithful prayer warrior for many. Even as her body grew weak, her spirit remained unbroken, her praise unwavering, and her trust in God steadfast to the very end. “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions… I go to prepare a place for you.” John 14:1–4 Mother Geraldine Green was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Mable Green; her husband, Lester Green Sr.; and her siblings: Eloise Barnett, Jerry Green, Isaiah Green, Al Jay Green, Murphy Green, Beauford Green, Lola Darby, Stella Vaughn, Essie Green, and Mable Brown. She leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Carolyn Porter(Herman); her children, Duane Dorsey, Zanell Dorsey-Collins (Chris), Lester Green (Delicia), and Quana Smith (Mike); her grandchildren, Matthew Smith, Hadden Green, Gabriel Collins, Sebastian Green, Maxamillion Green, Wynter Green, and Summer Green; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. May the life she lived and the legacy she leaves behind continue to be a blessing to generations to come.
