https://vimeo.com/event/4273051 Christopher Lee Marvels was born on December 29th, 1968, in Austin, Texas to loving parents Lee and Wilma Marvels. Christopher professed his faith in Christ at an early age at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend O.T Arnold. Christopher attended Blanton Elementary and Pearce Middle School. And eventually moved on to graduate from Lyndon B. Johnson High School in 1987. As a child and beyond, Christopher was an active participant in school sports and extra-curricular activities. Participating on both the basketball and football teams. After graduating High School, he attended Paul Quinn College in Waco, Texas and Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas. During his time at New Hope, he was active in several different ministries such as the Usher Board, Junior Choir and even competing in the Bible Bowl and making it to the national level. But the one ministry that he held onto the most was Ushering. He was a member of the Texas Church Ushers, Southern Region Church Ushers, and N.U.C.U.A.A. (National United Church Ushers of America) where he held a myriad of positions throughout the organizations. On the State level he held the notable offices of Junior President and Young Adult President. For the Southern Region, he was the Young Adult Director. And for the National he was the Young Adult President and even went on to be the Young Adult Co-Counselor for three years. Outside of Ushering, Christopher got involved in the Order of Masonic Lodges. He started off at Mount Carmel Grand Lodge in Austin, Texas before moving to the Lyons Jr. Lodge #290 PHA in 2012 where he was a member for the remainder of his life. While he was active member of Lyons Jr. Lodge, he held for the top position of Worshipful Master for six years, making him one of the longest serving people to hold that position in the Lodges. Christopher was a man that always was in good spirts, even when the circumstances would deem otherwise. He was never afraid to tell a joke and brighten a room or attempt to befriend anyone. He was a free-spirit and lived for an adventure, no matter how big or small. In his spare time Christopher enjoyed travelling, cooking different recipes, and even coming up with his own, watching sports (specifically the Dallas Cowboys), and spending time with his family and friends. Christoper was called home to be with his heavenly father on April 22nd, 2024. He was preceded in death by his father, Lee Edward Marvels, sister Debra Ann Dean-Marvels, and nephew Richard Wayne Johnson. Christopher leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother Wilma Marvels, son Joshua Marvels, sister Linda Berry, niece Antoinette Marvels, Great-Nephew Kentrell Joseph Williams and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
