    WARREN LEE GRANT

    February 20, 1942 - September 7, 2019

Warren Lee Grant was born to Pickney Grant and Joyce Cunningham Morris on February 20, 1942 in Austin, Texas. Warren was a lifelong member of the Ebenezer Third Baptist Church, where at an early age he professed his faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized by Pastor Robert L. Rowe. He enjoyed being a member of the Shepherd Boys’ League and participating in the children and youth activities. Warren was recognized at the 2019 Men’s Day Observance for being 1 of 29 men celebrating 50+ years of membership at Ebenezer. He attended schools in the Austin Public School District and graduated from the Original L. C. Anderson High School in 1960. He served in the United States Army and was stationed on bases in the states and in Japan. Warren was honorably discharged. Later, he enjoyed traveling by bus to visit cities where he had previously been stationed. He, his mother, and his grandmother, Mrs. Elnora B. Harding, traveled by bus annually, “to see the lights” on the River Walk in San Antonio during the Christmas Holidays. Warren loved art, with a special interest in drawing and woodwork. His love and interest in art led him to enroll in art classes at Austin Community College. Warren was a caring and compassionate person who looked out for his neighbors, the homeless and neighborhood cats. He allowed some of his homeless friends to nest on his property. Warren carefully watched over a parking lot in his neighborhood and allowed people to park their vehicles on his property free of charge. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He leaves to cherish his memory his cousins, Dr. Beulah A. Jones (Jimmie Jones), Albert Ray Harvey (Carolyn Harvey), Roy Lee McCarther, Georgia Warren, other cousins, relatives and friends.
