    Vera Wilson

    March 13, 1943 - April 18, 2020

    Sister Vera Marie Wilson, gained her wings on April 18, 2020. Sister Wilson was born March 13, 1943 in Del Valle, Texas to the late Cornelius Wilson and Gertrude Yancy Wilson. Vera attended schools in both Del Valle ISD and Austin ISD, whereas she graduated from Old Anderson High School in 1961. Vera accepted Christ at an young age. Baptized at Del Valle Missionary Baptist Church under the late Pastor Henry Hill. She later joined New Lincoln Missionary Baptist Church in 1959 under the late great Pastor F.P. Robertson. As a devoted member she served on the Nurses Aid, Pastoral and Homecoming Committee and Kitchen Committee. She made sure to attend church regularly until her health begin to fail her. Vera met the love of her life Melvin Simms whereas they shared 47+ years of unconditional love until her passing. For they showed us that true love is real and unconditional love. Vera worked at The Texas School for The Deaf, for 30 years until she retired. She will always be known as the; purple hair auntie, life of the party and the auntie that talked with her hands. The call we needed and the person who would never let anyone down. She was preceded in death by her parents Cornelius and Gertrude Wilson, 5 brothers; Jessie Wilson, Johnny Wilson, Lorenzo Wilson, Doris Wilson and Cornelius Wilson and 4 sisters; Margorie Walker, Loretta Plummer, Lullaby Hill and Janie Williams She leaves to cherish her beloved memories; Loving spouse Melvin Simms One sister Baby Ray Henry, One Sister In Law Ida Wilson and a multitude of nieces, nephews and friends. A Life Well Lived “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” II Timothy 4: 7-8
