Sandra Faye Manning was born on August 28, 1958, in Monroe, Louisiana to the late J.L. Manning and Shirley Ann (Taylor) Manning. She accepted Christ at an early age at First Baptist Church in Lockhart, Texas. She was a 1976 graduate of Lockhart High School. After high school, she attended Southwest Texas State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees. Sandra continued her education and earned a second Master’s degree. Later satisfied coursework requirements for a Doctoral degree from The University of Texas at Austin. Throughout her long rewarding career, Sandra was an elementary school teacher, interventionist, technology specialist and reading specialist for the Austin, Round Rock, Pflugerville and Manor Independent School Districts. Within our family, she was a cherished daughter, strong leader, excellent role model and second mom to her siblings, nieces and nephews as well as her great nieces and nephews. Sandra loved all crafting projects including quilting, sewing, crocheting and knitting. She loved cooking and never cooked the same dish the same way twice! She loved sharing her interests and we loved serving as her guinea pigs in all her endeavors! Sandra leaves behind to cherish her memory, a loving and devoted mother, Shirley Ann Manning; two brothers, Reverend Steve Manning (Pastor) and his wife, Janiece of Austin, Texas; Carey Manning and his wife, Yevett of Lockhart, Texas; three sisters, Wanda Head of Round Rock, Texas; Tammy Brite and her husband, Phillip of Lockhart, Texas; Kimberly Coleman and her husband, Cleveland of Lockhart, Texas and ex-husband, Joe C. Jennings of New Braunfels, Texas. She also leaves behind to cherish her memory, 12 nieces and nephews, Matthew Manning (Kelsey Linscomb) and Denise Manning; Cassondra McQuiage; Jonathan (Evette) Head, Jr. (J.B.); Taylor Brite, Lawrence (Aliagha) Brite and Victoria Brite; SaCora and Shanice Manning; Jocelyn (Jose) Aguillon; Danzie and Jamayla Coleman. Langston, son of Kelsey, was a special part of her life, too. Her blessings kept flowing with 12 great nieces and nephews, Carver Manning; Jeremiah, Izaiah and Tamera McQuiage; Audrielle, Lynnette and Jynnelle Head; Cade Brite; Aleigha and Jamari Manning; Josiah and Jaleel Aguillon as well as a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, J.L. Manning, brother, Danzie O’Dell Manning and one unborn sibling.
