Ray Williams

May 8, 1946 - August 14, 2018

Ray Williams was born in Bastrop, Texas on May 8, 1946 to the late Sayers Williams, Sr. and Jewel Haywood Williams. Ray attended school in Bastrop, Texas. His religious faith was in the Lord Jesus Christ. At an early age, he was baptized at Pleasant Chapel AME Church in Walnut Creek, Texas. He spent his young years as a cement finisher where he took part in building many of Austin’s downtown structures; to later build what he loved to do which was become the proud owner of Ray’s BBQ in Austin (Montopolis), Texas. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife of 52 years, Mildred Marie Williams, son Christopher Williams and daughter, Natasha Williams of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Tashanique Jones and Zhane Hall; brothers: twin Roy Williams (Deloris) of Bastrop, Texas; Sayers Williams, Jr., Michael Williams (Sylvia), and Garry Williams of San Antonio, Texas; Sisters: Dazie Williams Arnold of Austin, Texas; Faye Houston Franks (Hiawatha) of Del Valle, Texas and Ruby Williams Buchanan (Frank) of Pflugerville, Texas. Along with these are host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends
