August 15, 1945 - January 12, 2022 Odell “Papa” Anderson, Jr (76) was born August 15, 1945, in Wisner, Louisiana. Odell served in the US Army for over 22 years, traveling to Army bases across the country and overseas while protecting this nation. He later retired and he and his wife JoAnn Anderson and their family settled in Austin TX. Odell lived a life filled with never-ending stories and laughter and made memories of the happy times he brought to those around him. He enjoyed eating good food and watching the news station CNN. Preceding Him in death was the love of his life, his devoted wife Joann Anderson; his Father Odell Anderson Sr, Mother Mattie Morrison Anderson, 3 sisters; Nola Johnson, Geneva Anderson, and Edna Saulsbury; and brothers Versa Anderson and Andrew Anderson. Odell is survived by his only child, Wanda Kaye Anderson, granddaughter LaShanda Cobb, and great-granddaughter Keyanna Cobb; 6 sisters: Ozzie Douglas, Margie Ross, Mattie Riser, Izella Hynes (Casterdell), Estella Anderson, and Angela Leak, brother Harry Anderson and a host of nieces and nephews. He will be missed by many relatives and friends. Odell passed peacefully from complications of Covid-19 on January 12, 2022. Memorial will be held at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery on January 20th at 11:00 am. 11463 State Highway 195 Killeen, TX 76542 The family would like to thank Austin Wellness and Rehabilitation Center for the care of “Papa”.
