LaVerne Clarissa Ellison-Crayton

Laverne C. Ellison-Crayton was born May 27, 1935 to Walterine and Jerod Martin in Austin, Texas. She received her formal education in the San Antonio Independent School District. Following her education she travelled the world singing and performing on Broadway and various venues. After her days on Broadway she started a career at Texas Instruments where she later retired. Shortly after retirement, she became a home healthcare provider for many years. Laverne accepted Christ at an early age at Ebenezer Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Jerome C. Lott. She later moved her membership to Freedom Temple Pentecostal Church where she sang in the choir and served as pianist until her health declined. Laverne will always be remembered for her amazing cooking and her vibrant personality. Laverne was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Stephanie; husbands Milton Ellison and Raymond Crayton; brothers Walter, Joseph, and Eugene; sisters Ruby and Jerrene; and grandson Sammie D. Laverne's legacy will be cherished through her children, Anthony (Debra), George, Debra (Clarence), Barry (Lisa); sister Johnnie Mae; grandchildren Yolanda (Tyrone), Barry, Latimer, Diamond, Bridney (Anthony), Latasha, Nathan, Adoria, Christina, and Michah; great-grandchidren Tyanna, Tyrone Jr., Darius, Gianna, Sky, Cedrick, Kharmin, Trinity, Treveon, and Nalani; a host of other relatives and friends.
