Johnny was the only son and youngest of three children. Joseph attended public school, graduating from Washington High School, Lake Charles, LA. After graduation, he enlisted In the United States Army in 1978. Joseph returned to Austin in 2000, also returning to employment with the City of Austin. He joined Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor A.J. Quinton. In 2003, he rededicated his life to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Joseph was ordained as deacon at Diakonos A House of Servants, on April 27, 2014. In 2004 Joseph married Loretta June Moore ~better known to him as ~ “Baby Girl”. They both had a love for music and dance. Their favorite artist was Frankie Beverly and Maze and their favorite song was “Before I Let Go.” ~ I will truly miss him as my Friend & Husband ~ In June of 2014, Joseph medically retired from the City of Austin after 15 years of dedicated service. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Sonnier, Sr.; son, Joseph Lamont Blue; Paternal grandparents, Wilson and Cotan Sonnier; maternal grandparents, Oliver and Olivia Gabriel; 11 uncles and 10 aunts. He leaves to cherish precious memories; his wife of 18 years, Loretta Sonnier; son, LeVert Sonnier; daughter, Nalia Michelle Sonnier; son, Christopher Moore (Erin); mother, Gladys Sonnier; two sisters, Judy Lutcher and Linda Sonnier; four nieces, Tanjanique Lutcher Bradford (Victor), Regina Lutcher Washington (Rodney) Christina Lutcher and Natalie Lutcher; great niece, Gabrielle Washington; great nephew, Tyler Washington; nephews, Terrell Jean (Orobah), Brandon Johnson; grandsons, Joseph and Javon Blue; the extend Bolden Family; many family and friends who will miss him dearly. We would like to thank Dr. Jeffrey James, MD and Ascension Seton Transplant Clinic; The Nurses in 3 West; Techs, Therapy, ICU Nurses, the Staff of Austin Hospice Christopher House and Texas Oncology who took great care of Joseph during his illness.
