    REV James Henry "Snookie" Guyton

    June 22, 1945 - September 17, 2019

    James Henry Guyton was born in Ledbetter, Texas on June 22, 1945 to James and Gladys Guyton. He gave his life to Christ at an early age at Triumph Missionary Baptist Church (Ledbetter, Texas). He joined David Chapel Baptist Church and then later joined St. John College Heights Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member for over 30 years. He was ordained as a Deacon in January 1994 and ordained as a Minister in September 1996. He graduated from Giddings High School in 1963. After high school he served in the military and received an Honorable Discharge in 1971. On February 23, 1979, James and Gwendolyn wed and with this union were three children and their first-born son. He retired from Huntsman (Texaco) Chemical Company. He was an avid golfer and a diehard Baylor Bears, Dallas Cowboys and Spurs fan. He was a dedicated Christian, who loved the Lord and his church family. He was devoted to his wife, children and cherished his relationship with his family. He was also an inspiration to many. He was a member of the Quartet Association, performing with the Gospel Southernaires. He also founded the Gospel Stars with nephews Bryant, Johnnie and James Lott, who have been performing for 35 years. He was proceeded in death by his parents, two sisters Molly Ann Lott and Linda Petway. Three brothers Leroy, Doris (Sonny) and Wilbert (Bill) Guyton. Two nephews Rayfield Johnson and Darrell Guyton. He leaves to cherish his memories forever his wife, four children Nancy Pickett (Mike), Samuel Allen (DeForrest), Angeland Jefferson (Craig) and James (Pookie) Guyton. Four grandchildren Kandace Fisher, Robert Johnson, Aurie Jordan and Darian Jefferson. One great granddaughter Gabrielle Jordan. One Brother John Guyton (Thelma). Host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and devoted friends.
