    Glenn James Ruffin

    February 17, 1996 - July 26, 2020

Glenn James Ruffin, affectionately known as “GJ”, was born in New Orleans, LA to Andrea Ruffin and James Odoms on February 17, 1996. At the age of 9 years old, Glenn and family relocated to Austin, TX. Glenn graduated from Cedar Ridge High School in Round Rock, TX in 2014. During his time at Cedar Ridge, Glenn was a valued member of the football team and a beloved student and friend. Although he moved to Austin from New Orleans at a young age, he was “So New Orleans” and was a die -hard New Orleans Saints fan, who would cry REAL TEARS during a loss (Geaux Saints)! In his short 24 years, he lived a full life by creating memories through travel and new experiences. Glenn loved spending time with his family, friends, best friend, Khalil and his love, Jadelyn. He also loved music, fashion, modeling and photography. Glenn was very inquisitive. To know Glenn, was to love him. He was “the life of the party”. Glenn had an infectious smile and left a mark on everyone he knew with his positivity, servant’s heart, larger than life personality. He lived wholeheartedly by the mantra “turn your negatives (666) into positives (999).” Glenn faithfully attended St. James Missionary Baptist Church with his Pops, Rev. Jese Webb, who led him to Christ and he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. There are several quotes that best describe Glenn’s outlook on life perfectly. Some of them include: “Never allow waiting to become a habit”; “Live your life and dreams”; “Take risks”; “Life is happening now”; and, “Don’t be afraid of dying, be afraid of not living!” Glenn is preceded in death by Henry Burrell (maternal grandfather) and Delores Newman (maternal great -grandmother). Left to carry on his legacy are: Andrea Ruffin (mother), James Odom (father), Gwendolyn Burrell (grandmother), Jese Webb (Pops), brothers Roderick Ruffin and Keimon Frances, sister Kimbrian Petty (Sherman), aunt Deonka Ruffin (Romall), uncles Albert Ruffin and Willie Newman (Latasha), first cousins: Bakari, Bria, Willie III, DeJuan, Wayne, Wade and Myles, his love, Jadelyn Schachterle, and a host of family and friends. . https://livestream.com/accounts/7325565/glennruffin
