    Glenda Fay Ray

    June 19, 1964 - November 18, 2019

Glenda Faye Ray was the youngest child born to Charles and Nobie Ray on June 19, 1964 in Austin, Texas. She attended Austin Public Schools and graduated from the L. C. Anderson High School in 1981. She continued her education by completing Mansfield Business School in Austin, Texas, with a certification in Word Processing and Data Entry. Glenda was married to Bearin Spears in 1978 and was blessed with her only child,Tivon Spears. Glenda acknowledged Jesus Christ as her Savior in her early childhood and was baptized by the late Rev. E. L. Roberts at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. She later became a member of the Antioch Baptist Church, where Rev. W. R. Jasper is the pastor. As a youth, Glenda sang for several years with the Austin Citywide Youth Chorus under the direction of Dr. Ruth Sauls. She was a member of Austin Citywide Mission II and BLH Mission II under St. John District Association. She went with her mother to church, mission programs, and participated in weekly home prayer sessions. She worked as a Client Service Representative/Transfer Specialist for National Western Life Insurance, a Data Entry Operator at IRS and Caregiver for TRW Computer Enhancements and Rosie Home Health Care and caring for her parents until her own health failed her. Glenda loved life, family, cooking, dancing and, as everyone who knows her, she loved to talk. She was strong willed, but had a soft heart for helping people and could always be seen bringing food from gatherings to her clients, co-workers or friends in the neighborhood. To cherish her memories, Glenda leaves her son, Tivon Spears, and his friend, Samantha Lewis, her parents, Charles and Nobie Ray; Sisters, Louise Easter (Clyde), Shirley (Kevin), Debra (Donnie), Hosetta (Milton), Esther (John), Paula (Henry), Carmon (Nathanial), ; Special Sisters: Ronetta, Ebonee, Lena, Rosa (deceased), Cathy and Gwin.
