    Frances Joan Sampson

    June 10, 1934 - February 5, 2020

Reflections of Her Life Frances Joan Daniels was born June 10, 1934 in Round Rock, Texas. She was the youngest of four children from the union of Dock and Helen Daniels. Frances graduated from the original Hopewell School, which was a part of the Round Rock School District. After graduation she worked diligently for many years in a private home setting and was blessed to take good care of the Deutsch family. She eventually retired from the Austin Independent School District (AISD). Her career with AISD included working with special needs children. She was frequently assigned to work with students that were capable of learning to read or participating in job training activities. It was a joy for her to be able to help them enhance their abilities in order to graduate with useful life skills. Her most notable motto to every young person was: “Keep God first!” She came to know Christ at an early age at the Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church (Round Rock, Texas) where she was baptized under the leadership of the late Rev. E.M. Franklin. She later moved her membership to Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in 1979. Her greatest blessing was Christian service as a member of Mount Zion. She faithfully served as a choir member, mission worker, Sunday School Secretary and Silver Soldier. Additionally, she dedicated many volunteer hours and resources to nursing homes, the church clothes closet and Community Advocates for Teens and Parents (founded by Mrs. Bobbie Jean Clark). Frances embraced family life. She was a devoted wife to Roosevelt Booker Sampson for 43 years and a mother to four sons and one daughter. She also devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to her mother, father, and aunt. Frances Joan transitioned from earth to glory on Wednesday, February 5, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three sons (Leslie Jones, Ronald Sampson and Ralph Jones). She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Gwendolyn Marie Darby of Fort Worth, Texas; one son, Booker LaRue Sampson (Jackie) of Austin Texas; 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.
