Mr. Ernest Walter Williams, Sr. (Walter) was the second child born to Earnest Samuel Williams, Sr. and Virgie Dell Williams on May 01, 1939 in Taylor, Texas. He departed this life on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at the Hospice Austin’s Christopher House in Austin, Texas. He attended Shiner and Austin Public Schools, He played the Bass Drum in the Marching Band at L. C. Anderson High School. Ernest was a lover of his family. He loved the gathering of family, friends, co-workers and anyone that came by was welcomed. He was a great cook and you couldn’t leave without tasting something or taking something with you. He loved to barbeque during the Summer and on special holidays. He was also a great baker. He was such a great big brother and uncle. He remembered everyone’s birthdays with a cake or pie and a gift. Even when he was in the nursing facility he would send birthday cards, Tiff’s sweets and gifts. Ernest was a hard worker and great provider. He started his state service in the Mailroom of the State Capitol. He spent over thirty years at the Texas State Health Department as a Laboratory Technician Supervisor and retired with meritorious service. Ernest loved his football, he was a die-hard Dallas Cowboy Football fan. He also loved baseball and the Los Angeles Dodgers was his team. He was an avid sports fan, he knew everything and everyone in all sports (he should’ve been a sports commentator). He also was a historian; he knew his history. He also was an avid checker player. Ernest loved the Lord and was brought up in Church with his grandmother (Mudear), Mrs. Rosie Lee Lauderdale McDonald at the No. 1 Church of God in Christ. He was member of New Lincoln Baptist Church, where he was baptized by Pastor Robinson. He later joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor S.A. Davis. He served as Scout Master for the Boy Scouts and served with the Hospitality Department. He met and married the love of his life, Mabel Beatrice Hayden, who was the musician at the time. They celebrated over 51 years of marriage this June. They were blessed with four children (three girls and one boy). He loved to spoil his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His father, mother, five brothers, grandparents, uncles, aunts and one granddaughter (Tasha Morrison) preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memories: His devoted wife, Mabel Hayden Williams, three daughters, Nita Williams Binion (Ed), Jacquelyne Williams Buckley (Cornelius, Sr.) of Austin, TX; Nancy Williams of Lockhart, TX; one son, Ernest Walter Williams, Jr. of Austin, TX; nine grandchildren, Adrienne, Anthony, Raquel, LaDonna, Datrien, Cornelius Jr, Jaeden, Ja’Rae and twelve great grandchildren Jhalyne, Joycelyne, Makayla, Kameren, Jaida, Kiana, Delilah, Jacob, Giselle, LaDonna, Ladainian, Alana. Two brothers, Sylvester Lee Myers, Sr. (Joyce), Wendell Myers of Austin, TX; seven sisters, Rubye Williams Sampson (Joseph, Sr. decd), Henrietta Myers Patterson, Emma Myers McDonald (Walter) all of Austin, TX, Joyce Myers and Laura Myers of Round Rock, TX, Beulah Myers Brown (Nelvin, Sr.) of Taylor, TX; Arvell Myers Palm (Sylvester, Sr. decd) of Morton, MS; two uncles, Alvin Smith, Sr. of Austin, TX and James Smith of San Antonio, TX; one aunt, Betty Lauderdale Jones of Austin, TX. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
