Deadrick Alan Roland, Jr. (DJ) was born December 27, 1986 in Austin, Texas to Deadrick Alan Roland Sr of Houston, Texas and Velma Wallace of Austin, Texas. Deadrick Jr attended Modern Barber College in Houston, Texas and became a licensed barber while in high school, shortly after he graduated from Lamar High School in 2005. “DJ” attended Houston Community College (HCC), but followed his passion to become a business owner and helping his father expand the family company The Kuttin Edge Barbershop. “DJ” had a creative mind, he was the inspiration behind coming up with the names of both successful brands; Kuttin Edge Barbershop and Poparazzi’s Gourmet Popcorn. “DJ” loved his family, architecture, creating music beats, traveling and outdoor activities. He aspired to be an architect one day. He is survived by his father Deadrick Roland, Sr; mother, Velma Wallace; siblings, Gary L. Gordon, Jeremy Daron Avery, Paul Whitmill, Jr, Daniele Garner and Iralynd Whitmill, all of Austin, Texas; aunts, Amy Fields and Marcy Fields, both of Austin, Texas; uncles, Cory Robinson of Austin, Texas and Cedric Roland of Anchorage, Alaska; grandmother, Ms. Annie Robinson, of Austin, Texas; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his fraternal grandfather, Eugene Roland; maternal grandmother, Ira Jean Ford and maternal grandfather, Roland Ford.
