    Christine Marie Green

    June 13, 1952 - December 29, 2021

https://livestream.com/accounts/7325565/christinegreen https://www.flipsnack.com/alcbf/christine-green.html The season of Spring was about to end and the heat of Summer was peaking on the 13th day of June, 1952 when a beautiful baby girl entered this world. Christine Marie Mitchell was born to Johnnie Lee and Frankie Mae Ervin-Mitchell in Austin, Texas. She grew up in the small predominantly black community in North Austin known as the St John Addition. Christine loved her neighborhood and had many, many friends. At a young age, she joined the congregation of Black’s Memorial Missionary Baptist Church under the Pastoral leadership of Reverend Alvin L. Patton Sr. While attending the secondary schools in the Austin Independent School District, Christine caught the eye of Ben E. Green. Several years of courtship and then marriage on July 17, 1973 produced 4 beautiful children over 50 years of togetherness. After marriage to Ben, Christine became a member of the congregation at St. John College Height Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor W. M. Reed and worked with the Health Ministry for some time. She remained a member until the Lord called her to be with him Wednesday, December 29, 2021. During her years of employment, Christine worked 21 years with the Austin Independent School District and retired from the same. Family times with the grandchildren were always very special to her and the most important event of all was Christmas. Oh how she loved Christmas and her precious pet, Scooby!!! Christine was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie Lee and Frankie Mae Ervin-Mitchell; three brothers: Ira Joe Mitchell, Sr., Donald Ray and Michael Mitchell and one sister; Kay Hill. Survivors left to cherish her memory includes her husband, Ben E. Green, Sr.; three daughters; Kimberly (Timeric) Williams, Andrea (Cedrek) Pettaway and Donna Mitchell and one son; Ben E. Green, Jr.; four brothers; Jim Mitchell of El Paso, TX., Roy (Esther), Douglas (Jo), Tommy Mitchell of Austin, TX and Larry (Debra) of Corpus Christi, TX; four sisters; Geneva (A.J.) Bell, Johnnie Mae (John) Shaw, Ella Mae Carothers and Regina Hill all of Austin, TX.; seven grandchildren: Shawnquese (Darnell) Holmes, Timisha and Timeric Williams, Jr., Cedrek Petteway, Jr., Ben E. Green III, LeeAnn and James Green; three great grandchildren: Rahniya Bailey, Braylen Holmes and Kyzah Williams; one pet, Scooby and a multitude of relatives and friends.
