Charles Elliot McClain (Wee Wee) was born on August 23, 1933 in Austin, TX to the late Walter McClain and Thelma Beatrice Moore. He was the second of four children. Charles departed this life on January 25, 2018 at the Veterans Affairs (VA) Hospital in Waco, TX. Charles attended public schools in Austin and graduated from the Old L.C. After serving in the Air Force, he graduated from Huston-Tillotson College (currently known as Huston-Tillotson University) and pledged with the Alpha Fraternity. Charles was dedicated to following his own path and strived to make his mark in the world. Growing up, he attended Simpson United Methodist church. He also treasured time spent with family and friends. Charles moved to Temple to be closer to the VA and the other veterans in 1990. During this time, he became an avid swimmer and participated in the Senior Olympics, which allowed him to travel all over the country. As a Senior Olympics competitor, he won more than 56 medals in various events. He continued to stay active until his health declined. Charles is survived by two daughters, Felicia D. Overton (Darrell) and Terri L. McClain in Austin. His one and only granddaughter, Lauren D. Jones-McClain in Austin.
