Our precious Wyvonne was born October 21, 1956, to the union of Edd & Irene Anthony in Longview, TX. Wyvonne received her formal education through the Longview Public Schools and was a proud graduate of Longview High School class of 1974. Wyvonne continued her education at Kilgore College where she became a licensed vocational nurse. Wyvonne accepted Christ at an early age as a member of Lewis Chapel CME. On October 28, 1975, she married the late Thomas Ray Hunter. His military service in the United States Air Force took them to several states and abroad during their marriage. They were last stationed in Austin with their four children Christa, Demetrice, Anthony, and Theresa. Wyvonne found herself in a variety of careers during her lifetime, all of which involved service to others. As a lover of people, she naturally excelled as a nurse and homemaker for many years. She worked as a video manager at Tom Thumb and remained with the company when it later became Randall’s, and finally Albertsons. Wyvonne also worked as a mail processor for the US Postal Service and culminated her career as a management and program assistant at the IRS for over twenty years. One of Wyvonne’s lesser known talents was her beautiful skill as a cake decorator. She completed a series of cake decorating classes to learn this craft and continued to practice her hobby for years. She enjoyed making cakes for her children, grandchildren, and family friends. Words seem inadequate to capture the life and essence of a woman who exuded so much warmth and love. Her smile was her best worn accessory, and hugs were her love language. She loved to travel and looked forward to the many cruises she went on with her friends and family. Wyvonne also loved to sing and was a proud member of both the Greater Union Missionary Baptist Church choir and the IRS choir. As a member of Greater Union, she served faithfully for many years as a trustee, financial secretary, and deaconess. Surpassing her love for music was without a doubt her love for her family. She was often found celebrating the accomplishments of her children or cheering on her grandchildren in their chosen activities with her signature “woo hoo” and infectious smile. It was a rare occasion that she would miss a special family event from Austin to Fort Worth or Longview. Her reassuring presence and unwavering love was a foundation of her treasured relationships. Her happiest moments were always when her children, daughters in love, and grandchildren were all together in one place. We take great comfort in knowing that one day our mom’s greatest joy will be her eternal reality. She was called home to rest in the arms of her Savior on July 19, 2020 where she is free from the cares of this world and reunited with many whom she loved. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas, father Edd, mother Irene, brother Charles, sister Barbara, and two beloved nephews Victor and Donald. Left to cherish her memory and continue her legacy of love and family, her two daughters Christa and Theresa, her two sons Demetrice (Visa) and Anthony (Andrea), her pride and joy, granddaughter Julia and grandsons Xavier, Maxwell, A’din, and Harrison. She leaves behind her five dear sisters, Ella Morrison, Edwinter Kenney, Macy Shelton, Gwendolyn Robertson, and Genever Williams, all of Longview, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, coworkers, and her beloved GUBC family.
