Willie Herbert Easley was born in Manor, TX, on February 10, 1945, to Joseph A. Easley Sr., and Margaret Middleton. He was a quiet soul with a gentle presence, affectionately known by his family as “Chill.” He found joy in simple, meaningful moments, sharing meals, gathering with loved ones, and being there for the people he cared about. Those who knew him admired his devotion as a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Whether lending a hand, solving a problem, or crafting something with care, he gave of himself freely and without hesitation. After graduating from Manor High School in 1963, he began his career working for Townsco, traveling across the United States. He later joined the City of Austin, where he built a 27‑year legacy of reliability and excellence until he retired in 2001. Known for his strong work ethic, he rarely missed a day and earned the respect of his coworkers. As a husband and father, he showed his love through action. If Muriel wanted something that he could build, he built it to her specifications. If Tara needed help with her car (even at 2 a.m.), he was there without hesitation. If Vanice needed furniture for her house, he built it with his hands, and on holidays, he was happiest standing over the grill, preparing delicious barbecue. Willie was a member of Greater Works Baptist Church. He was a faithful hearer and doer of the Word of God. A master carpenter in his own right, he freely shared his God‑given gifts with family, friends, and his church. He had a heart to teach and was always willing to pour his knowledge into anyone eager to learn. Throughout Greater Works, the evidence of his craftsmanship and service can be seen throughout the House of God. On Saturday, January 24, 2026, Willie was called Home to be with our Father in Heaven. He was a true believer in Christ’s redemption and understood the power and importance of faith. Willie was preceded in death by his father, Joseph A. Easley Sr., his mother, Margaret Middleton, and his loving wife of 50 years, Muriel Laverne Easley. To celebrate his life’s legacy and to cherish his memory, Willie leaves behind daughters Vanice Y. Hayes (Patrick) and Tara B. Easley, siblings Joseph Easley Jr. (Gwen), Martha Easley, and Elijah “Jackie” Straw, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
