May 9, 1948 – June 26, 2025 A soldier’s heart never forgets his oath. “Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” – Ephesians 5:11 With reverence, love, and deep gratitude, we gather to honor the life of Mr. Walter Watson Sr.—a man of honor, insight, and quiet power. A decorated U.S. Army veteran, loyal husband, devoted father, protective grandfather, loving brother, and thoughtful truth-seeker, Walter’s life was a testament to dignity, discipline, and depth. Born in Austin, Texas, on May 9, 1948, and called to eternal rest on June 26, 2025, he left this world with his mission complete, and his legacy firmly planted in the hearts of all who knew him. A Soldier’s Valor Walter answered the call of duty with courage and strength, serving in the United States Army as part of the 4th Battalion, 28th Artillery Regiment. As a Heavy Weapons Infantryman (MOS 11G78), he distinguished himself during the Vietnam War and earned numerous decorations for his selfless service and battlefield valor. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Medal with Device 60, and two Overseas Service Bars. He demonstrated expert marksmanship and earned the Marksman Qualification Badge. Walter served as a Geneva Convention Combatant and was posthumously awarded the Presidential Memorial Certificate, personally signed by the President of the United States, in recognition of his honorable and faithful service to our country. A Life of Truth, Thought, and Tenacity Walter was more than a soldier—he was a seeker of truth. Known by some as a conspiracy theorist, Walter wore that title with quiet pride—not out of fear, but out of fearless intellect. He was unafraid to confront uncomfortable truths and encouraged others to think independently, trust their intuition, and look beneath the surface of things. He studied deeply, listened intently, and led by example. His voice was steady, his words deliberate, and his wisdom timeless. To know Walter was to meet a man who made you want to think harder and feel deeper. His quiet strength and unwavering beliefs made him a rock in the lives of many. Family and Legacy Walter was preceded in death by his loving parents, Walter Henry Watson Jr. and Roberta Wallace, and his cherished siblings: Chester Watson, Eddie Watson, A.D. Watson, Shirley Watson-Wells, Thelma Watson-McNeice, Bernice Watson-Smith, and Dolores Watson-Sneed. He is survived by his devoted and grieving wife, Janice Watson, who stood faithfully by his side through every battle, every triumph, and every sacred moment of life. Walter leaves behind his beloved children: Chris Pennick, Denzel Watson, and Alicia Watson. He was a proud and guiding grandfather to his beloved grandchildren: Datron Pearson, Jaiden Pearson, Aniyah Pennick, Sire Pennick, Dazire Pearson, Jamir Pennick, and a loving grandchild on the way—each of whom now carries his wisdom, strength, and courage into the world. Also mourning his passing are a host of loving nieces and nephews, cherished cousins, extended family, fellow veterans, neighbors, and lifelong friends—each of whom was touched by Walter’s strength, presence, and unforgettable spirit.
