Mable Jones Rivers was born to Mable and Rufus Jones on May 10, 1937. Mable was 88 years old when she went to heaven a few days before her birthday and Mother’s Day on May 10th. What a blessing to spend your birthday and Mother’s Day in heaven on the same day! Mable was a proud member of the Historical Black Community Shiloh Texas, Burleson County. Mable attended the Historical Black Freeman High School where she was the Drum Major and the Homecoming Queen these proud moments she shared with her grandchildren. She married the love of her life Horace H. Rivers (deceased) Mable was the proud mother of five children. Arlethia Rivers Middleton, Karen J. Rivers, Garner T. Rivers (deceased), Wanda S. Rivers, and Tanya L. Rivers. She was an even prouder grandmother to Sean L. Rivers, his wife Nicole Ashberry Rivers, Howard Parker Rivers and his wife Jokiva Rivers, Horace Alexander (Zander) Rivers (deceased) Azarion Cairo Barnes, Anais Azania Barnes and Haliey Morgan Jeff. Mable was blessed, thankful and grateful for her great grandchildren who always put a smile on her face: Jonathan Ashberry, Keianna A. Rivers, Keiarra Y. Rivers, Ava Rivers and Nena Rivers. Mable loved her plants even maintaining a beautiful nursery inside her home. She also loved sewing, cooking, and creating pottery. Her favorite pass time was traveling she has literally been all over the world from Hawaii and London to Wales, cruising the Caribbean and taking bus trips to Coushatta. (One of her favorite sayings was “Let’s Go”) After her husband’s passing, Mable improved her secretarial skills through classes and worked for the City of Austin Senior Program for several years where she made many, many friends! One of her proudest names is “Aunt Mable” she was the proud aunt to many biological nieces and nephews and many more. Mable is also united in heaven with her siblings that preceded her: Mary Butler, Milton Jones Sr., Hubert Jones, Daniel Jones, James Jones Sr., Rufus Jones, and Annie Jones. Mable leaves her sweet memories, smile and laughter with her two remaining siblings, her beautiful sister Ruby Johnson and handsome brother who always made her laugh out loud, Jeremiah Jones!
