Life Reflections Mrs. Loretta Fields Hill was born in Luling, Texas to Gussie Fields and Arnie Burgess Clark. From a young age, she confessed her faith in Christ and remained steadfast in her Christian walk throughout her life. She possessed a special heart for the underserved, overlooked, and forgotten. Loretta never met a stranger—she met opportunities to serve. She was a proud graduate of St. Edward’s University, majoring in Community Health Education and Holy Cross Nursing School. She also matriculated at The University of Texas at Austin and pursued continued studies throughout her lifetime. Loretta faithfully served at Grant A.M.E. Worship Center in Austin, Texas, holding numerous leadership roles within the Women’s Missionary Society and serving sixteen years as Administrator and Connectional Officer of the Christian Debutante Master Commission (DMC). Leadership & Community Impact July 1992 Mrs. Loretta Fields Hill of Austin, Texas was elected the 2nd Connectional General Administrator of the Christian Debutante-Master Dedication Commission. During Mrs. Hill’s 16 years of leadership she created the CDMC Manual and handbook. She also established the Julma Crawford Scholarship as well as the current organizational structure for the program. She is a retired public health educator and an active lifetime member of Grant AME Worship Center, Austin, TX. In July 1992, Mrs. Hill was elected Administrator of the Debutante Master Commission (DMC) of the A.M.E. Church, continuing a legacy of structured youth development. Beyond the church, she organized voter registration drives, health fairs, Sickle Cell education programs, and served as a public health educator for the City of Austin. Family & Legacy Loretta was united in holy matrimony to Herman Hill, sharing sixty-eight years of devoted marriage. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gussie Fields and Arnie Burgess Clark; her son, Ronald Hill; her grandson, Reginald Hill Jr.; and her beloved siblings. She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband, Herman A. Hill; her children, Reginald Hill, Herman R. Hill, Sharon Hill Smith (Kenny); her grandchildren, LaKisha Hill Tenner, Stephanie Nivens, David Nivens Jr., Erika Nivens, Kendra Smith, and Caleb Hill; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family members; godson Scipio Brown; and a host of spiritual sons and daughters whose lives she impacted profoundly. Her life embodied service in action, leadership rooted in love, and faith that never wavered.
