Tributes

Lois was born to Maurice Joyner Jr. and LaVerne Hardin on June 13, 1955. Lois accepted Christ at an early age at St. Edwards Baptist Church, and was baptized under the leadership of Rev. Admiral Dewitty, and later moved her membership to St. James Missionary Baptist Church where she served under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Billy W. McClendon. Lois attended Austin Independent School District, graduating from Johnston High School in 1973. She went on to further her education at Houston Tillotson University majoring in Childhood Education. Lois was employed with the Austin Independent School District (AISD) for two (2) years and found out that teaching was not for her. She left AISD to go work at AT&T, where she worked for eighteen (18) years. After leaving AT&T, she worked for the State of Texas (DPS & TXDOT), where she later retired in October of 2017. Lois loved her classmates Johnston High School Class of 1973. She looked forward to fellowshipping and planning activities for all them to get together every year. Lois was family oriented and she loved her family more than anything in this world. She loved family gatherings and looked forward to holidays. She loved to take charge in planning all family events, singing and listening to music. Lois loved all of her nieces and nephews, but she shared a special bond with her great-niece, Cedicia “Cee Cee” Allen, her great-nephews, Marketh Biscoe II, Lester Rivers Jr., Elijah & Izaiah Moore, and her great-great nephew Cayden Griffin. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her maternal grandparents, Mr. Eddie & Lorine Hardin, paternal grandparents, Mr. Maurice Joyner Jr. & Lillian Joyner, her uncles, Eddie Jr. & Altee Hardin, Christopher Joy, and her daughter Tiffany Nicole Joyner. Lois leaves to cherish her memory; her three sisters, Cynthia “Diane” Sibley (Andre), Patricia “Pat” Moore (Max), and Kirsten Lee. One stepbrother: Willie Lee (Connie), Nieces: Tameka Hallcy (Lawrence), Marticia “Ticia” Lee, Nephews: Shawn L. Joyner, Torin Moore (Lisette), Great Aunts: Doris Hughes, Ernestine York, Mildred Brown, her play son, JR Campbell, Special Friends: (Johnston H.S. Class of 1973), and a host of other family and friends. The Celebration of Her Life Service will be 12 Noon (can be viewed on livestream https://livestream.com/accounts/7325565/loisjoyner) Monday, June 29th at St. James Missionary Baptist Church. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery. Public Viewing and Flowers can be delivered to 1309 E 12th Street, Austin 2PM-5PM on Sunday, June 28th. The family has selected Dr. Barry J.W. “The Shepherd” Franklin, CFSP at A Life Celebration By Franklin to fulfill her final earthly celebration with great excellence.
