Leo Zachary Sr. was born on January 28, 1928 to Louis Zachary Sr. and Daisy Armstrong in Taylor Texas. Leo accepted Christ in his life and was baptized. He was the first Deacon ordained by Pastor Tyree King at St. Love All Baptist Church. He was a member of St. Love All Baptist Church and later after a consolidation of St. Love All BC and Swenson Grove BC, the church was renamed Greater Swenson Grove Missionary Baptist Church, and is still under the Leadership of Pastor Tyree King. He served faithfully as a Deacon and was a member of the Brotherhood and T. E. King Male Chorus until his health no longer allowed him. Leo was united in marriage to Lucy Lee Chambers on January 26, 1953, and to this union they were blessed with six children whom he loved dearly. He attended school and worked for 30 plus years until he retired at the Texas Highway Department. Leo “liked” old black/white western movies, playing cards, fishing, but he “LOVED” Dominoes. Don’t know which he loved more the playing or the trash talk that came along with. And he usually held up to his talk and would teach you how to be a good looser. He also taught family members and friends how to play. Leo was a very sweet and kind man, but don’t make the mistake of taking his kindness for a weakness, because he would set you straight. He was the last of his immediate Zachary family. Leo was preceded in death by: His parents - Louis and Daisy Zachary, His sisters - Alma Black, Bertha Cathy, Louise Hargrove, Elizabeth Brown, Daisy Carter, His brothers – Louis Zachary, Louie Zachary, Lamon Zachary, Arthur Zachary, His daughters – Vickie R Zachary and Carol J. Zachary Bell. He departed this life Friday December 21st, 2018 at 12:17am. He leaves to cherish his memories: His wife of 65 years Lucy L. Zachary, 4 Children - 2 sons Leo Zachary Jr., Craig Zachary; 2 daughters Cynthia Zachary, Dorraine Roberts (Darryl Wayne-deceased); 8 Grandkids – 4 grandson Melvin Leon Wright Sr., Marc Bell Jr. (Lisa-Lady Bug), Justin S. Wright Sr., Darryl S. Roberts; 4 granddaughters – Anita Gums, Sheri L. Ward, Brandy M Turner (Michael), Precious Roberts; 26 Great Grandkids – Alonzo Gums, Arius Gums, Krystal McGill, Kelaya McGill, Kimora McGill, August Zachary, Kinayia Q. Wright, Melvin L. Wright Jr., Makayla L. Wright, Sean Turner, Aaron Turner, Brooklynn M. Turner, Brelin Wright, Bre’Aisa Wright, Zachary Mendez, Justin S Wright Jr., Joella Wright, Ashley Ward, Victoria Ward, Almanitra Bell, Deja Bell, Mackenzie M Bell, Marc Jo-Anthony Bell; Noah Courtise Owens-Roberts, Darryana Sharae Roberts, Darryl Sharod Roberts Jr.; 2 Great Great Grandkids – Xavier Small, A’Lyric Smith-Gums; all of Austin, Texas; a special nephew Nelson Hargrove Jr, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
