Tributes

Today we bid farewell and celebrate the life of a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, auntie, niece and friend. LaVerne departed this life on Sunday, December 8, 2019. LaVerne was born January 2, 1939 in Austin, Texas to the late Eddie Hardin Sr. and Lorine Hardin. She was raised in Austin, Texas and attended Austin Independent School District. LaVerne accepted Christ at an early age at Pilgrim Rest Primitive Baptist Church. She later united with St. Edwards Baptist Church where she served as a faithful usher until her health failed. LaVerne was employed with Austin Independent School District for twenty-five (25) plus years as a cook. LaVerne was a very caring and loving person who loved to cook. LaVerne was known for cooking many families Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for many years. She was very well known for her famous Peach Cobbler. LaVerne loved her family very much. LaVerne shared special bonds with her daughters. They were not only mother and daughters, but best friends. LaVerne also had a special bond with her grandsons Shawn and Torin, and her granddaughters, Tameka and Ticia (Marcette). LaVerne loved her great grandchildren, Marketh, Lester Jr. and Cedicia (Cee Cee) and was blessed to have three (3) angels, (Elijah, Izaiah, and Cayden) who loved her. LaVerne was loved by so many of our friends. LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Lorine Hardin; three (3) brothers, Eddie Hardin Jr., Altee Hardin Sr., and Arthur Lee Edwards; one granddaughter, Tiffany N. Joyner. LaVerne leaves to cherish her memory her four loving daughters: Cynthia Sibley (Andre), Lois Joyner, Pat Moore (Max), Kirsten Lee. One step-son; Willie James Lee Jr., (Connie). One sister, Tijuanna Pendergrass; One brother, Gregory Pendergrass (Maribel); Four grandchildren, Shawn Joyner, Tameka Hallcy (Lawrence), Marticia Lee and Torin Moore (Lissette). Six great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; three aunts, Doris Hughes, Mildred Brown, and Ernestine York. One god son, Corey Canada; Two special neighbors, Marnette Walker and Clifton Griffin. Another special neighbor she called her son, Greg Ross and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
