Her passing leaves a huge void in the hearts of her family and friends who were always entertained by her stories, her hilarious sense of humor and culinary skills. Kassandra was truly the life of the party, a sweetheart and brought joy to all that she knew. Kassandra united and was baptized at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist in 1991. She joined the Children Choir and as a young adult she participated in the Youth Choir. Kassandra was born in Sacramento, CA on April 25, 1984 to Frank and Juliette Washington. She attended school at Eilson AFB School in Fairbanks Alaska; she also attended school in the Del Valle Independent School District (ISD); and Bedichek Middle School. She graduated from Crockett High School on May 24, 2002 and continued to fulfill her educational goals by enrolling in the School of Massage Therapy where she received her training and certification. In the past, Kassandra worked at Chuck-E- Cheese, JC Penney’s, Sears and K&G Fashion Superstore prior to pursuing a career in Early Childhood Development. She held Teacher's Assistant positions at Fountain Plaza, Metz Elementary, Manor Elementary and American Youth Works. She also worked at Baty Elementary as a Lead Teacher. On August 11, 2016, and prior to her passing, Kassandra worked as an Autism Teacher's Aide (Paraprofessional) in Del Valle ISD. Kassandra's colleagues stated she was an amazing student. She loved her students and worked very hard with them to make sure they excelled. Coworkers praised her performance and appreciated her patience and methodology used to teach Autistic students. Kassandra's family served in the United States Air Force which required them to travel and move about frequently. They were stationed at McClellan Air Force Base (AFB) in Sacramento where Kassandra was born and later received an assignment to serve in Fairbanks Alaska for three years. While in Alaska, Kassandra and her sister Katrina loved playing in the snow. During family outings and adventures, she enjoys seeing all kinds of wildlife. She was intrigued by nature. At the conclusion of the family's assignment in Alaska the family was assigned to Bergstrom AFB in Austin, Texas. On September 11, 2008, the love of Kassandra's life was born, a beautiful bouncing baby boy who Kassandra and his dad, Damon Thomas, named Jayden Karon Thomas. Kassandra and Jayden were inseparable. She loved her some Jayden and went as far as putting a tattoo on her shoulder of his hand print that read “Right Hand Man." Kassandra loved cooking; especially going to Foodie places she'd seen on the Food Network. You could always count on seeing her special prepared meals on Facebook. She liked showing off her culinary skills. Yes, she was a good cook. Additionally, she loved traveling and dancing. After Kassandra's dad suffered a stroke, she became his personal massage therapist, helping him with his hand exercises and encouraging him with his therapy. She enjoyed using those massaging skills to help family and friends when they were stressed. Kassandra was a wonderful daughter and mom; she was such a delightful person to be around. She never met a stranger. Kassandra was preceded in death by her Grandparents, Julius Wallace, Frank Washington, Sr. and Myrtle Washington; Great-grandmother, Christine Wallace; Aunts/Uncles, Henry & Patricia Lyles, Jesse & Minerva McKinney, Vincent Wilson; Cousin, Shannon Harper; and Godparents Robert & Dora Cummings. Kassandra fought a good fight, she never loss her faith... Traylor of Austin, TX; Grandmother, Virginia McKinney of San Antonio, TX; One Uncle, Scott McKinney of San Antonio, TX; Aunts: Brenda McKinney, Ofelia (Ricky) Allen of San Antonio, TX, Julia (Joseph) Dorsey of Houston, TX, Cynthia (James) Dale of DeSoto, TX, Patricia Diggs and Mae Esther Washington of Ft. Worth, TX; Godparents: William & Yvonne Miller of Elk Grove, CA, Ronald & Gwen Barrow of Elk Grove, CA, and Carolyn Williams of Austin, TX; Bonus Aunts/Uncles, Portia Slaton of Atlanta, GA, Kimberly Charley-Steens of Sacramento, CA, Sheri (Paul)Caldwell-Hooks of Manor, TX, Karen (Sam) Jones of Cedar, Park, TX and Valerie & Kelvin Rucks of Austin, TX. Also, cherishing fond memories of Kassandra are her Bonus God-Sisters/Brothers, Myla (Marcus) Thompson of Antelope, CA, Vanessa Barnes and Katrina Martin-Miller of Mobile, Alabama; Extended Family, Sheila Thomas and Steve Davis ( Grandparents of Jayden); Bonus Sister, Walnesha Thomas, a hosts of cousins Kassandra loved dearly, other family and friends too numerous to name.
