Donald Anthony David was born June 24, 1937, in Boston, Massachusetts. He was the second born of seven children to Mildred and George David. Donald received his education through the Boston Independent School District. Upon completing his education and receiving his diploma, Donald felt the desire to expand his career. “Aim High…Fly-Fight-Win,” Donald did just that! He enlisted in the United States Air Force. After serving 3 years, completing Airman Leadership Academy, and other required qualifications, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant. He proudly served his country with his rank. After serving many years in the military, he sought to advance his education by enrolling in the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). While attending UTA, Donald became interested in becoming a member of one of the finest fraternities. With dedication and determination, he became a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. As he continued his studies, he successfully completed all course requirements and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in Economics and minor in Religious Studies. While stationed at Bergstrom Air Force Base, Donald met the love of his life, Minnie L. Crayton. After several years of courting, on August 24, 1957, a light shined from Heaven, and joined the two in Holy Matrimony. To this union, two children were born: Mark A. David, and Lillie “Lyz” Theresa (David) Brieger Stevens. After retiring from the United States Air Force, he gained employment with Tracor Electronics in Austin. In 1971, his wife’s job transferred her to Dallas. He made the wise decision to support his wife and move the family to allow her to complete her career with the federal government. While living in Dallas, he gained employment with the United States Postal Service. When the couples' careers successfully ended with retirement, they moved the family to Rockdale, Texas. Donald was a God-fearing man. He also instilled the same religious practice in his family. He and his family joined Concord Missionary Baptist Church (MBC) under leadership of the late, Pastor E.K. Bailey. While at Concord MBC, he served in several ministries. When moving to Rockdale, Texas, he, and his wife changed their membership to the Rising Star Missionary Baptist (MBC) Church under the leadership of, Dr. R. L. Johnson. While serving at Rising Star MBC, he became a Deacon and a Sunday School Teacher. Donald served faithfully until his health declined. In Donald's down time, he enjoyed watching sports. He was an advocate fan for football and Tiger Woods. He also enjoyed working with electronics. Any opportunity he had to do a project - he was suited for the duty. This was therapeutic and relaxing to him. Donald A. David entered eternal rest on December 25, 2022. Preceding him in death his parents, Mildred Guy and George David; his daughter, Lillie “Lyz” Theresa (David) Brieger Stevens; his siblings, George David, Betty Greene, and Guy David. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Minnie L. David; son Mark A. David (Dee) of Duncanville, Texas; Grandchildren: Camille Aidoo (Reginald) of Austin, Texas, Ashlan Rogers (Floyd) of DeSoto, Texas, Mark A. David II of Arlington, Texas, Kirstie Brieger of Dallas, Texas, Bobby B. David of Arlington Texas, Jill Black (Mike), Amy Blaylock, Lindsey Blaylock; Great Grandchildren: McCaylan, MaKynzi, London, Alani, Jairus, Jeremiah, Khiry, Dallas, Landry, Beaux; Siblings: Geraldine David of Boston, Massachusetts, Phyllis David of Boston, Massachusetts, Phillip David (Becky) of Harker Heights, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
