On August 3, 1975, a beautiful baby boy entered the world at 5:29 AM at Elizabeth Seton Medical Center, Austin, Texas. He was given the name De’Kovan Endimion Jiles. Affectionately known as Sooniki, Kovan or “D”. He attended parochial and public schools in Austin, Compton and Kaplan, LA. De’Kovan Christian baptism was on the Roman Catholic faith. He confirmed at Holy Rosary Church in Kaplan Louisiana. As the eldest son, De’Kovan learned early how to be strong, independent an outgoing. He loved playing basketball, football and ran track. “D” was an avid New Orleans Saints fan. He also played golf and was an excellent marksman. In recent years, he showed an aptitude for computer programming and was taking coding classes. One of the proudest moments of D’s life was the birth of his 2 beautiful daughters, De’Yanahara and Nyla. There was not a day that went by that he did not think of them. He wanted nothing more than to have them close and to live his life in such a way that they would be proud that he was their Dad. Born under the sign of Leo, De’Kovan was always stood as a towering force in our lives. D was quick to make you laugh, talk smack, give sound advice and protected those he loved from harm at all times. He was a man who loved having family and friends around, listening to music, watching HGTV and cooking on the grill. Two and half years ago, he met the love of his life, his fiance’ Brandy Sams. D and Brandy were inseparable from the very beginning. Often found laughing, having dance contests, finishing each other’s sentences or hosting parties at their new house. Together they had plans to take over the world! On February 21, 2020, at 2:01 PM, De’Kovan went to be with the Lord. He was proceeded in death by his Sister: Sasha Mouton, Grandparents: Eunice and Robert Ridge, Verna Blackman, Rosemary and Jonas Mouton, Josephine and Joseph Jiles Sr., Uncle: Joseph G. Mouton and his best friend: Dwight Moore. He will be dearly missed by his beloved Brandy Sams, Daughters: De’Yanahra Jiles of Los Angeles, CA and Nyla Jiles of Round Rock, Texas. Parents: Jonathan and Duran Mouton of Houston, TX, Sennix and Carolyn Silas-Sams of Oakland, CA., Joseph and Joy Jiles of Kyle, TX. Godmother: Shawana Freeman-Blair of San Antonio, TX. Siblings: Jon Slocum of Boise, ID, Jon-Robert Mouton (Margaret Weinberg) of Los Angeles, CA, Jonas Mouton (Jobeth Davera) of Los Angeles CA, Latoiya Jiles of Kyle, TX, Kenya Jiles, Latanya Jiles and Latasha Jiles of Ausitn, TX, Gabrielle Walker of West Monroe, LA, Mercedes Slocum of Portland, OR and Chandra Mouton of San Antonio, TX, Shandia Sams of Houston, TX, Brandon Sams, Bianca Sams, Erica and Duriel Davis of Oakland, CA. His many nieces, nephews and host of extended relatives and friends.
