His kindness, love and sense of humor made him a favorite among family and friends. Born on September 12, 1958, to Baby Ray and Otis Henry, he grew up surrounded by love. On Monday, November 11, 2024, we lost a bright light in our lives. Cornelius lived with great passion, always cheering for his beloved Dallas Cowboys and spreading happiness wherever he went. His journey through AISD public schools showcased his dedication and talent in athletics, particularly in basketball, football, and baseball. Graduating from Lanier High School in Austin, Texas, in 1977, he not only honed his skills on the field but also built lasting friendships and valuable life experiences along the way. His commitment to sports and teamwork during those formative years undoubtedly shaped the person that he was. At a young age, Cornelius accepted Christ and was baptized at New Lincoln Missionary Baptist Church under the late Reverend F.P. Robinson. He learned and grew in his faith under Robinson's leadership. Cornelius was devoted to his responsibilities as an usher, serving several years on the usher board, under the late Reverend A.R. Evans Sr. In 1984, he embarked on a journey with Naomi Wade, forming a union that would bring forth their greatest treasure: their beloved daughter, Natalia Rae Henry, born March 25, 1985. This union represented not just love, but a cherished legacy. He had a natural talent for sports, which he channeled into coaching local little league teams for young boys and girls in football, baseball, softball, and basketball. Even during the off-season of coaching, he remained involved in sports by serving as a referee. His passion for athletics didn't end after high school; he often participated in Sunday basketball games and played flag football and softball in adult leagues. Cornelius was recognized for his dedication to his job and ability to forge meaningful connections with coworkers and customers. His experiences at Williams Specialty Supply and Morrison Supply coached him to cultivate a deep appreciation for plumbing. In his final years, while working at Winston Water and Cooler, he continued to inspire those around him, leaving a positive and lasting impact on everyone he encountered. He leaves behind many cherished memories. We will always remember his spirited nature, which could bring laughter to everyone in the room, his unwavering love for the Dallas Cowboys, and his remarkable talent for dominating every domino table he joined. Preceded in death by his mother, Baby Ray Henry; his father, Otis Henry; numerous aunts and uncles; and one great niece and, godmother Alma Williams. Leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories, his daughter, Natalia Henry, and his beloved pets, CT and Baxter. He is also survived by his siblings: Arthur “Dilly” Hargis (Deborah), Raelynn Henry, Essie Guyton, Steven “Jimmy” Henry. Special siblings, Lawn “Jobri” Burton, and Noelle Paulette. His influence continues through his nephews and nieces—Latecia Hargis, Datrin Guyton Sr., Averon Glasco Sr., Alan Guyton Sr., Alkeisha Black, Dajanique Henry, and Tyler Henry—as well as five great-nieces/nephews and three great-great-nieces/nephews. In addition, he is remembered by his aunts: Deborah Henry, Gloria Henry, and Ida Wilson, along with his uncle, James Henry, to carry his spirit forward.
