Barbara was born April 28, 1951 in Granger, Texas the 7th child of Ira Caldwell and Louise Warner. She accepted Christ at an early age at Judea Baptist Church in Granger, Texas. She moved to Houston and united with Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late D. Leon Everett, II where she served in the choir. In 1992, she united with Windsor Village Methodist Church where she faithfully served as communion stewardess, coordinator of the Altar Guild Newspaper, and member of the Database Ministry. Barbara graduated from Granger High School and attended Southwestern Business University. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Texas Southern University. She married William “Bill” Foster and they moved to Germany. In August 1971, she began her career with the Houston Independent School District as a clerk. In 1972, she was a secretary in the Board of Education Department. In 1978 she was a secretary in the Human Resources Department and in 1980 became a senior secretary. In August 1986, she began her teaching career at Jack Yates High School. In late 2000, she came out of retirement, and returned to teaching South Early College High School until September 2019. Barbara is predeceased by her father and mother, Ira and Louise Caldwell, sister, Myron Ersaline Caldwell, and brothers, Crawford, Walter and Roy Caldwell and husband of 50yrs William “Bill” Foster. She is survived by three daughters, Tesha Yvonna Foster of Pearland, Texas, Jennifer Devon Foster of Goodyear, Arizona, and Allison Foster, Pearland, Texas; three grand-children Ryan Xavier Foster, London Ashley Foster, and baby Jewel Devon Foster; Grand-dogs Chrissy Foster and Teddy P. Foster; two sisters, Iris Johnson (Henry brother/brother-in-law) of San Antonio, Texas, Frances Hall Thompson of Houston, Texas, a brother, Raymond Caldwell (Joyce sister/sister-in-law) of Austin, Texas; Billie Caldwell (sister/sister-in-law) of Houston, Texas, Carolyn Caldwell of Temple, Texas (sister/sister-in-law), Mary Bynum (sister/sister-in-law) of Baltimore, Maryland, Cheryl Fails (niece/sister) of Temple Texas, Rosemary Caldwell (niece/sister) of Houston, Texas, and Linda Cage (niece/sister) of Hutto, Texas; numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, co-workers, and great friends Mrs. Carolyn Slater-Whitaker, Ms. Carolyn Durham, Mr. Ronnie Morgan, Mrs. Margo Gillum, Mr. Ray Carrington, Mrs. Bernetha Wright-Shelby, Mrs. Deborah Molo, Mr. Efrem Pierce, and Ms. Linda Taylor.
