She was born in Magnolia Mississippi and was the first born child of 8 children to Dorothy Lee Magee, (1st spouse), Delon Dillon Sr. (deceased) Shirley Dillon (current surviving spouse) . At the tender age of 17 Alice moved away from home and attended Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi. There she was a part of the legendary Jackson state marching band “The Sonic Boom of the South” where she played the clarinet. In 1992 she married the love of her life John Denver Whitley in which she was devoted in love until his transition to be with the Lord in 2015. They were married for 24 years. During that time she received her Bachelors and Masters degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix in Austin Texas. She was a full-time wife, mother and entrepreneur that owned of her own business called Alice’s Unique Boutique. She handmade extraordinary pieces for all her clientele with the upmost care and detail. She was a vital and dependable employee. Meticulous, strategic and intelligent in her work ethic towards every position she held. She retired for The Department of State Health Services where she worked for 14 dedicated years as The Vital Statistics Program Specialist. She had a passion for Jesus, family, good food, fun, new adventures and playing spades. She loved to build others and always rooted for the underdog. She was talented, courageous, loving, sincere and funny. As much as she treasured and poured into her family and friends, she was a rare gem of a treasure to all around her. She was a phenomenal mother and best friend. Though she is sorely and painfully missed her impeccable legacy will live on in all who love her. Alice Whitley is survived by her daughter Nija Green, Step-Children: Berniece Jones and family, Tammy Whitley and family, Yolanda Whitley (deceased) and family and Bret Whitley and family. Grand Children: Marciline Noan Tiegnon, Benjamin Lemuel Green. Siblings: Walter Dillon (Carolyn); Roy Dillon (Pam); Dorothy Parker (Jerry); Delon Dillon, Jr. (Laura); Wynetta Chaney (James); Shirlon Jenkins (Justin); and Mylon Dillon (Sherryneak) Nieces and Nephews (Oldest to youngest): Marcus Dillon (Tracie); Deidre Dillon; Lauren Faith Dillon; Dillon Chaney; Jarquvius Dillon;Mylasia Dillon; Chasen Dillon; Aaron Jenkins; Kylen Dillon.
